Chapter 7 - ROSALIND TESTIFIED WITHOUT ENTERING A COURTROOM

Rosalind never stood in open court facing Jason.

Her attorney and child specialist made sure of that.

At eight years old, she did not need adults turning her into a performer.

Her statements were gathered appropriately.

The most important one was simple.

“Aunt Pamela moved Grandpa’s medicine.”

The interviewer asked:

“How do you know?”

“I saw her.”

“Did anyone tell you to say that?”

“No.”

“Did Grandpa know?”

“No.”

Then:

“Aunt Pamela said old people forget things all the time.”

Rosalind had thought nothing of the sentence when she heard it.

Now it mattered.

The emergency guardianship petition collapsed.

My independent capacity evaluation contradicted Jason’s allegations.

School and medical records showed Rosalind was thriving.

The professional co-trustee supported the existing arrangement.

Gideon’s evidence established suspicious conduct.

Police records established the nighttime entry.

Jason’s own messages damaged him further.

The court did not need to decide whether I was perfect.

No guardian is.

It needed to decide whether there was a legitimate basis to remove Rosalind from a stable home.

There wasn’t.

Jason and Pamela were denied guardianship.

Temporary contact restrictions followed while separate investigations continued.

The conservatorship attempt against me never got anywhere.

I was competent.

Annoyingly so, according to Gideon.

Then criminal and civil consequences developed.

Unlawful entry.

Document falsification issues.

Evidence manipulation.

Attempted fraud tied to court filings.

Dr. Reeves’s professional misconduct.

The exact legal outcomes took time and depended on what prosecutors could prove.

Jason eventually entered pleas resolving supported charges involving the staged evidence and unlawful scheme.

Pamela faced her own case.

She had been more active in moving medication and staging household conditions.

Neither received the cinematic hundred-year sentence angry relatives predicted online after pieces of the story became public.

They received serious consequences.

Supervision.

Restitution.

Restrictions.

Professional damage.

Jason’s business entered bankruptcy.

Their house was sold.

That outcome did not delight me.

It simply happened.

Debt eventually wants to be acknowledged.

More importantly, neither controlled Rosalind.

May you like

And neither controlled me.
