It ends with Luca Ferraro grabbing his new wife Jessi by the back of the neck, slamming her face into their wedding cake, drawing blood, and then whispering:
“Smile, Jessi. Don’t embarrass me.”
Two hundred guests witness it.
His mother, Wendy, laughs.
Luca calls it a joke.
But beneath the neckline of Jessi’s wedding gown, a tiny recorder captures every word.
And inside Phoebe’s purse is a sealed evidence packet containing photographs of earlier bruises, medical records, bank records, and a copy of the prenuptial agreement Luca signed without reading carefully enough.
The cake smash has not magically made Jessi rich.
It has done something far more dangerous to Luca.
