Chapter 7 - The Ambush at the Private Pier

I stopped at the head of the boardroom table, looking down at my cousin with cold, unadulterated disgust.
"You used military acoustic weapons against three one-year-old babies, Julian," I said, my voice terrifyingly calm. "My children."
"Adrien! Please! Listen to me!" Julian wailed, blood and saliva dripping from his split lip onto the contract papers. "It wasn't just me! The North Side Syndicate promised me fifty million dollars in port concessions! They supplied the hardware from an overseas arms contractor! They told me the frequency would leave no autopsy trace!"
Marcus tapped his tactical tablet, projecting the decrypted communications onto the boardroom's panoramic wall monitors.
Displayed in high-definition clarity was the entire paper trail:
The Wire Transfers: $2.5 million wired from Julian's offshore Bahamian account to Dr. Vivian Vance's private trust.
The Arms Manifest: Receipts proving Julian purchased five phased-array infrasonic modules from an illicit defense broker in Geneva.
The Hit Contract: Encrypted audio recordings of Julian authorizing the execution of Elena Carter and her daughter Sophie after the triplets' deaths to eliminate all domestic witnesses.
The three syndicate capos at the table stared at the screens in open horror and revulsion.

"You tried to murder Adrien's newborn triplets and a four-year-old child, Julian?" Capo Bellini spat, standing up and slamming his fist onto the table. "You broke the sacred blood covenant of this house!"
"He didn't just break a covenant, Bellini," I said softly. "He signed his own eradication."
