Chapter 6 - THE DOCTOR WITH TWO SETS OF RECORDS

The investigation into Dr. Victor Sloane intensified.
Independent auditors discovered discrepancies in medication inventory records.
Several high-cost drugs had been ordered but never documented as administered.
Other supplies appeared under patients who had never occupied the listed rooms.
Room 508 was only one of several irregular locations.
Elise's incident report became important because it established that the room had been used for private treatment while officially recorded as vacant.
Dr. Sloane denied wrongdoing.
He claimed the discrepancies were administrative errors.
Then investigators found a second set of records.
The hidden files contained patient names, medication transfers, and payments from private accounts.
One account belonged to a company connected to Adrian's business empire.
Adrian was furious.
"Someone used my companies to fund this?"
His attorney nodded.
"It appears so."
Adrian looked toward Marcus.
"Who authorized the payments?"
Marcus hesitated.
"Your cousin."
Adrian went still.
"Vincent?"
Marcus nodded.
Vincent Blackwood had managed several family businesses while Adrian focused on expanding the legitimate holdings.
He was charming.
Well-connected.
And ambitious.
Adrian had trusted him for years.
Now the records suggested Vincent had been paying Dr. Sloane.
Elise listened to the conversation.
Then asked:
"Why would Vincent want Daniel sick?"
Adrian stared at the documents.
"Because Daniel owns forty percent of the family trust."
The room went silent.
Adrian continued.
"If Daniel becomes legally incapacitated, Vincent gains control of his voting rights under an old agreement."
Elise felt sick.
"Then this isn't just about medicine."
Adrian looked at her.
"No."
May you like
His voice hardened.
"It's about control."
