Chapter 10 - A Sunrise on Moretti Bay (Happy Ending)

One year after that fateful birthday party, the warm summer sunrise cast a brilliant golden glow across the rolling blue waters of Moretti Bay on the eastern tip of Long Island.

The private terrace of the newly restored Moretti Maritime Sanctuary was filled with the sweet scent of blooming salt spray roses, fresh cedar, and the clean ocean breeze.

Standing near the timber railing, holding a cup of steaming dark roast coffee, was Elena Moretti.

Under my leadership as Executive Chairwoman of the newly launched Moretti-Vance Foundation for Sustainable Infrastructure, we had completed the emergency reinforcement of the city’s compromised transit tunnels, hiring hundreds of honest union laborers and establishing comprehensive scholarships for women entering engineering and corporate law.

The Cole name had vanished from the city's skyline, replaced by truth, integrity, and unbreakable strength.

Footsteps echoed across the wooden deck.

Dominic, Matteo, Luca, Gabriel, and Nico walked out together, dressed in relaxed linen shirts, holding glasses of freshly squeezed juice and smiling with genuine warmth.

“Happy thirty-fifth birthday, little sister,” Dominic said, wrapping a strong, protective arm around my shoulders and kissing the top of my head.

“This one feels a little different from the last one,” Matteo laughed, raising his glass in a cheerful toast.

“No spilled wine,” Gabriel smirked.

“No fake heiresses,” Nico added with a grin.

“And absolutely no arrogant husbands,” Luca concluded, handing me a beautifully wrapped small cedar box.

I opened the box. Resting on a bed of dark velvet was an antique gold signet ring engraved with the Moretti family crest—the soaring falcon above the ocean waves—inscribed with the words: Semper Familia, Semper Invicta (Always Family, Always Undefeated).

I slipped the ring onto my finger, feeling the deep, generational strength of my ancestors settle into my heart.

I looked out across the boundless Atlantic horizon where the morning sun danced like liquid gold upon the water.

The cold ballroom, the cruel laughs, and the dark shadows of betrayal were gone forever. Standing tall on the shore of my true home, surrounded by the five men who had always been my shield, I knew that my life was entirely my own—proud, triumphant, and filled with boundless light.
