Chapter 1 - THE BOY WHO THOUGHT MONEY COULD BUY EVERYTHING

THE SPOILED RICH BOY WHO NEARLY DESTROYED HIS OWN FAMILY
A spoiled ten-year-old boy deliberately spilled scalding soup onto my arm, then laughed in my face and declared I was “just a waitress.” But when my manager discovered who his wealthy father was, he did something so outrageous that the entire restaurant fell silent—and what happened next would threaten everything that powerful family had built.
My name is Marina Oliveira, and until that afternoon, I believed that doing my job well and treating people with respect would be enough to earn the same kindness in return.
I was wrong.
It happened during the lunch rush at an upscale restaurant in São Paulo. I was carrying a steaming bowl of soup toward a table where a well-dressed ten-year-old boy named Enzo Almeida sat with the confidence of someone who had never been told no.
As I carefully lowered the bowl in front of him, he suddenly shoved it with both hands.
The scorching broth splashed across my bare forearm.
“AHHH! MY ARM!” I screamed.
The bowl crashed against the floor, shattering into pieces. I stumbled backward, clutching my burning skin as angry red patches began spreading across my arm.
And then I heard something that made my stomach turn.
Laughter.
Enzo was laughing so hard he could barely stay in his chair.
“What's wrong?” he mocked. “You're just a waitress!”
I stared at him, struggling to believe what I'd heard.
“YOU DID THAT ON PURPOSE!” I cried.
He stood, lifted his chin, and gave me a smug little smile.
“So what?”
The entire dining room erupted.
A woman at the next table jumped to her feet.
“That boy should be ashamed of himself!” she shouted. “Someone needs to teach him some manners!”
Other customers began protesting. Some shook their heads in disbelief, while others stared at my injured arm.
But Enzo didn't look frightened.
He looked entertained.
Then my manager, Roberto Farias, hurried across the restaurant.
“What happened here?” he demanded.
I showed him my reddening arm and explained everything, my voice trembling.
Roberto's expression hardened. He turned toward the boy, clearly preparing to reprimand him.
But then he stopped.
His eyes widened slightly.
He recognized Enzo.
The boy was the son of Ricardo Almeida, one of São Paulo's most influential businessmen—a man whose wealth and connections were well known throughout the city.
Suddenly, Roberto's entire attitude changed.
Enzo noticed immediately.
He leaned back comfortably, folded his arms across his chest, and announced with a satisfied grin:
“MY DAD WILL PAY FOR IT!”
I waited for Roberto to defend me.
Surely, no amount of money could excuse deliberately injuring an employee.
But instead, he turned toward me.
His expression was cold.
The customers watched in stunned silence as Roberto raised his hand, pointed toward the spoiled boy, and issued an order I never imagined hearing from my own manager.
My heart dropped.
My arm was still burning.
And as I looked from Roberto to Enzo's triumphant smile, I realized something terrifying.
The spilled soup wasn't going to be the worst thing that happened to me that afternoon.

It was only the beginning.
