Chapter 7 - THE MESSAGE ON VIVIEN'S PHONE

The first undeniable evidence came from Vivien's own mistake.

She left her phone on the breakfast table while taking a call in the hallway.

A message appeared on the screen.

I didn't touch the phone.

I didn't need to.

The preview was visible.

Lorenzo: Make sure Roman signs before the ceremony. We cannot wait another week.

I photographed the screen with my own phone.

Then stepped away.

That afternoon, my attorney, Rebecca Shaw, reviewed the documents Vivien had given me.

She was fifty-one, brilliant, and completely unimpressed by wealth.

When she finished reading, she removed her glasses.

“Roman.”

I looked at her.

“What?”

“These are not ordinary wedding documents.”

“I know.”

She shook her head.

“No. I don't think you understand how aggressive this is.”

She pointed to a clause.

“If you sign this, Vivien could obtain significant authority over assets that have nothing to do with your marriage.”

I stared at the page.

Rebecca continued.

“And this provision creates an opportunity for her father to influence your holding companies.”

I felt cold.

“Can it be challenged?”

“Possibly. But why would you sign it in the first place?”

I looked toward the window.

“Because I trusted her.”

Rebecca's expression softened.

“Then don't make the mistake of trusting her again.”

That evening, I called Lorenzo.

He answered cheerfully.

“Roman! The groom!”

I forced a smile.

“Lorenzo.”

“Two days, my boy.”

“Actually, I'd like to discuss the documents Stephen prepared.”

Silence.

Then Lorenzo laughed.

“Routine paperwork.”

“Then you won't mind my attorney reviewing them.”

His tone changed.

“Roman, don't complicate things.”

May you like

I looked at the blue folder on my desk.

“I'm beginning to think complicated is exactly what you've made them.”
