Chapter 1 - THE CHAIR

It ends with a father coming home unexpectedly and finding his young daughter tied tightly to a dining-room chair while her mother stands over her.
The mother immediately claims:
“She hit me first.”
But the little girl finally says:
“She does this every time you go to work.”
Her father frees her, calls 911, and refuses to let the situation remain a private family argument.
Police arrive.
One officer tells the mother:
“Ma’am, you are under arrest.”
Then, while documenting the home, officers discover something that makes the case much larger than one horrifying afternoon.
A locked interior room.
A room the father has never been allowed to enter.

dozens of folders bearing his daughter’s name.
